DDB Contracting, of Newton NJ, has been awarded the renovation of the historic 75 Montgomery Street building located in Jersey City New Jersey. The building is currently owned by the Beekman Estate, a privately- held corporation controlled by the heirs of one the original settlers of New York, Wilhelmus Beekman, who immigrated to the US in the 17th century. Their real- estate consists of mostly commercial properties throughout Manhattan, New Jersey, Connecticut, and West Chester County. The building, built in 1906, is currently used as a commercial office building, and the project will include a full renovation of the common area lobby. The renovation is expected to be completed by early July.
Ed Albanese, owner of DDB, discusses his excitement in taking on the project. As he explains, “the renovation poses an interesting challenge because it is far from your typical construction project. We will not only need to conform to the historic requirements of the city, but will also need to consider how we will take modern materials and transform them in a 100+ year old look in order to maintain the integrity of the property.” With 28 years of experience, DDB Contracting has built more than 10 million square feet of commercial interior space. DDB’s projects include office interiors, medical laboratories, hospitality, and industrial commercial spaces. DDB has worked for major realtors and various Fortune 500 companies. Each job is tailored to provide both technically advanced and artistically sophisticated building solutions and an unwavering commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.
